Master Degree in Civil Engineering, II Year.

The course provides and insight into the classical numerical techniques of the computational mechanics. Starting from the displacement method for frame systems, the finite element method for bending deformable frames is derived. Then, bi-dimensional structures are considered too. In this perspective, some hints are provided for the static and the dynamic analysis of doubly-curved shell structures with bi-dimensional and three-dimensional theories. Both the strong and the weak formulation of the structural problem will be presented with particular reference to rods, frames, membranes, plates and shells.
