Notions of electromagnetism

(concerning photonics devices) Optical processes in semiconductor materials, the light emitting diode, Basic principles of Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER), the semiconductor LASER, photodetectors

The course of photonics devices focuses on the working principles of the most common photonic devices (LEDs, LASERS and Photodetectors). After an introduction on the basic principles of optical processes into semiconductor materials, the students is introduced on the physics of the different devices and to the most important principles for their engineering and fabrication.
