Teaching description

English language skills at B1 level

- Specialized vocabulary

- Project writing

- Grammar

The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of the key grammatical, syntactical and lexical feature of English and writing skills enabling them to write projects in the field of cultural heritage promotion in an appropriate English style. Students will be made aware of the stylistic differences between Italian and English, and their writing skills will be trained accordingly. Students will also acquire specific terminology related to their field of study. Part of the course will be devoted to grammar review.

Lecture-based classes, interactive classes, mock tests and team work.

Students will hand in a project in English on topics of their choice related to their studies. The project must be handed in at least 10 days before the verbalizzazione date. A sample format will be provided. The evaluation criteria that will be taken into account for the final mark are the following: 1) relevance to the instructions, 2) clarity, and 3) correct use of the language. Before the verbalizzazione, students may be asked questions about specific aspects of your project. Depending on how complete and convincing the answers will be, students may be awarded up to 2 points, to be added to the final mark. Students who are not satisfied with the mark will be given one possibility only to improve their project.
