Spintronics, nanoelectronics & Nanomagnetism, Sensing & Lab on Chip, Scanning Probe Microscopy
1) Spintronics, nanoelectronics & Nanomagnetism:
- NanoElectronics and Spintronics, in particular hybrid organic/inorganic spin devices with magnetic molecules/nanoparticles;
- Magnetic Multilayer Tunnel Junctions, including hybrid junctions with molecular/functional layers;
- RF hybrid spintronics (surface acoustic waves devices, cavity QED and magnonics);
- multiferroics and functional oxides (e.g. high-k dielectrics, piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials).
- nanomagnetism and magnetic characterization.
2) Sensing & Lab on Chip:
- lab on chip for medical diagnostics (e.g. detection of cancer biomarkers, microorganism infections, cell studies and on chip PCR);
- lab on chip for food, agriculture and environment for on-field analysis/detection of environmental threats, bio-warfare agents, toxins and allergens from food, industrial and agriculture products;
- innovation in sensing approaches by developing new transducers (e.g. magnetoresistive, SAW or plasmonic-based approaches) or sensing elements (e.g. using molecular-imprinted polymers).
3) Scanning Probe Microscopy
