- Abstract
- The main objective of the project is the development of a ground-based environmental-meteorological stations (EMs) network along the Ionian islands and the Apulia region, in order to supply continuous measurements of the following critical atmospheric and environmental parameters : 1. Precipitation height, 2. Wind speed at 10 meters height, 3. Wind direction at 10 meters height, 4. Solar irradiance, 5. UV-A & -B radiation levels, 6. Temperature, 7.Relative Humidity, 8. Barometric pressure, 9. Aerosols mass concentration and 10. Aerosols’ size segregated mass fractions (for PM1, PM2.5, PM10, respirable classes). This list further includes the following basic environmental quantities that can be deduced from the aforementioned parameters data through numerical treatment : 11. Daily available Solar energy, 12. Maximum daily production of electric energy from typical PV systems, 13. Daily & monthly available Aeolic energy.
